General Notes: Husband - John M. Bierer

---

He was a successful farmer, and in 1868 was elected county commissioner, serving with credit for three years. He was also overseer of the poor for some time, and after the erection of the County Home was a poor-house director for two terms. He was an uncompromising democrat, and one of the most active politicians in the county. For many years he served as major in the old militia battalion and was quite efficient and popular.
