General Notes: Husband - Lt.-Col. James Agnew, Jr.

He and his wife Martha had eight children.
He was born Jan 29, 1738. [JAHR, 5] This date of birth is given for his brother Samuel. [CBRWC, 422]

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and was wounded in one of the battles of New Jersey.

He lived near what became the village of Fairfiekl, originally called Millersville, in Hamiltonban township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He was a captain in the 2d Battalion, York County Militia, Col. Robert McPherson, 1775-6, and was wounded in the New Jersey campaign. In 1778, he was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 7th Battalion of the York County Associators. After the Revolution he devoted himself to business, and became one of the wealthiest men in Hamiltonban. He owned a number of slaves.

Different sources give very different lists of his children.
