General Notes: Husband - William Henry Berlin

He attended the public school, finishing his education at Car-rier's Seminary, later Clarion state normal school. He taught school one term; then be-came agent for the sale of farm machinery, continuing until his marriage. He next became a partner with his father in oil operations, and later was associated with his brother, John C. Berlin, of Fern, Pennsylvania, continuing in the oil business until his death. Among his realty holdings was the A. R. Black farm of eighty-four acres near Elk City, which was one of the famous oil-producing farms of that district in the early days of the oil excitement. He was a director of the Second National Bank of Clarion, and interested in many business enterprises of his section. He was a Democrat in politics, and at the time of his death was the Democratic nominee for county treasurer. He was a member of the Masonic order, the Knights of Pythias and the Maccabees. In religious faith he was a Methodist, his wife also being a member of that church. Mr. Berlin was a most popular man, having the rare gift of making and retaining his friends.
