General Notes: Husband - William J. Peterson

He was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where the town of Boswell was later located, and received his education in the schools of Jenner township. For a few years he worked on the farm, also serving an apprenticeship to the carpenter's trade with Emmanuel Cover, of the same township. After following his trade for about ten years in Somerset County, Mr. Peterson moved to Ligonier, Westmoreland County, where he became established in business as a carpenter and contractor. During the early part of his career he constructed many barns both in Somerset and Westmoreland counties, and he became the head of a flourishing and lucrative business. In politics Mr. Peterson was a staunch Republican. For two full terms and part of an unexpired term he was one of the board of school directors, and during one term he occupied a seat in the Borough Council. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, taking an active share in its work and support, and served for nearly forty years on its board of trustees.

General Notes: Wife - Deborah Berkey

She received her education in local schools. Later she spent several years in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, as a weaver in the woolen mills. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and belonged to the Ladies' Aid and Missionary societies. She organized a Bible class, and for years was the instructor of the infant department of the Sunday school.
