General Notes: Husband - Eli Reep
He was reared on the farm, assisting his father in the home duties, and obtaining a meager education in the subscription school of the neighborhood, to which he was compelled to walk three miles through the forest. He was afterwards engaged on Oil creek in drilling and operating. He was married and they settled on a part of the Reep homestead, where they lived until September, 1884, and then removed to Fairview borough. He continued to own 130 acres of the tract entered by his grandfather, on which there were two producing oil wells. The family were connected with the Methodist Episcopal church. Though formerly a Republican, he became a Prohibitionist; served some years as borough assessor, and also was a member of the borough council. He was always active in church affairs, and served many years as steward, trustee and class leader.
