General Notes: Husband - Obadiah M. Bennett
He acquired his education in the common schools adjacent to his home, and at West Fairfield Academy. During his early life he worked with his father, learning the cabinet-making trade which he followed up to the year 1865, and from then, for a period of forty-one years or more, successfully conducted a furniture store and undertaking business at West Fairfield and New Florence. He filled all the offices within the gift of the people of New Florence borough, including that of school director, and justice of the peace, serving in the latter capacity continuously for twenty-seven years or more. He devoted considerable time and attention to educational affairs, and his own children were given all the advantages obtainable in the schools of their native township. Mr. Bennett was a member of the United Presbyterian church. His political allegiance was given to the Republican party.
