General Notes: Husband - Capt. John Bennett

He and his wife were both natives of England. He received a good education and entered the regular army of England in which he served for several years as a captain and then resigned. In 1828 he came with his family to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he located in Derry township and remained there until 1868, when at the age of eighty-four he retired and went to live with his daughter at Parnassus, where he remained until his death.
