He was a colonel of the state militia, and served in the War of 1812. He was a tanner and harness- and shoemaker by trade.

He lived about four miles from Centerville, [Butler Co?] Pennsylvania, on a large farm which he owned and cultivated, and died there when above ninety-four years of age. He was a Presbyterian.
