He was born in New York state, and came to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, with his parents. He married and they resided in Burnside for a number of years, and then he sold his property and removed to Monroe County, Iowa. There he purchased a farm and other property, and eventually became one of the retired wealthy men of that locality.
