He attended school in DuBois, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and left the High School there to go to Kiskiminetas Springs School at Saltsburg. He graduated from "Kiski" in 1903, and in the autumn of that year he entered Princeton University. He had successfully passed through three years in that institution and was ready to go back for his Senior year, when, in August, 1906, he fell, a victim of appendicitis.
