Walter S. Bell
FRANKLIN-Walter S. Bell, 99, a well-known resident of Franklin who had worked as a carpenter for more than 40 years, died at 8:05 am Wednesday in Franklin Hospital.
Mr. Bell, who had been admitted to the hospital February 10, lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rollo W. Bell of 1106 Mercer Rd.
He was born December 13, 1880, in Franklin, a son of William and Clara Ramsdale Bell.
He was a life-long resident of the area and attended the public schools.
Mr. Bell worked as a carpenter for 43 years. He was employed many years in the carpentry shop at Chicago Pneumat­ic Tool Co., and prior to that, worked for H. T. Osborn Construction Co.
Mr. Bell also had been employed by Galena Signal Oil Co. and for Charles A. Rollo in the truck garden business.
He was a member of Uniontown Bible Church and Sunday School, the Carpen­ter's Union and the Franklin Moose.
He was married December 25, 1899, to the former Mazie Rollo. She died October 7, 1940.
In addition to his son, Rollo W. Bell of Franklin, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James F. (Edna) Jenkins of Chey­enne, Wyo., 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great­grandchildren.
Two daughters, Mrs. Jay J. (Mildred) Flickner and Mrs. Allison (Thelma) Woods; two brothers, Charles and Rob­ert Bell; and four grandchildren preced­ed him in death.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today at the guff Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday in the chapel. Rev. John E. Scott, pastor of Uniontown Bible Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
