General Notes: Husband - John Blunston
He came to America from Hallam, in the county of Derby, England, in 1682. He was a minister of the Society of Friends, a warm personal friend of William Penn, and a member of his Council. He was also a member of Assembly. [HLC 1883, 582]
He emigrated to America, with Michael, his brother, in July, 1682. Upon his arrival he settled upon a tract of land where now is located the village of Darby, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. From the day of his arrival he appears to have been a man of great prominence and of commanding influence in colonial affairs. He was a member of the first Assembly which met in Philadelphia in 1682 and subsequent years. He was Speaker of the House for several years. He was a member of the Council of Ten chosen by William Penn to administer the affairs of the colony during the period of his (Penn's) recall to England by King Charles II. He was a member of the Council of William Penn, known as the Governor's Council, and was actively identified with all of the stirring events of that strenuous epoch in the history of this nation. [HMC 1909, 867]
He was a purchaser of 1,500 acres of land of William Penn, before coming to Pennsylvania, where he arrived in 1682, and settled in Darby township, Chester County, being one of its first settlers.
