General Notes: Husband - Samuel H. Bell
He was a self-made man and was self-supporting since his boyhood. After attending school for a short period, he went to boating on the Allegheny River.
Later he engaged in coal mining and after being thus occupied for a time, learned the barber's trade. In 1875 he established himself in business at Midway, Pennsylvania, where he subsequently conducted a general store and also a livery stable.
He was a Republican, as was also his father. He was identified with Midway Valley Lodge, No. 888, I. O. O. F., and he and his family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
