Civil War: He was a soldier in company G, 28th Pennsylvania volunteers.
He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in the class of 1870, and from the Western Theological Seminary in the class of 1872. He was ordained and installed pastor of Rayne church on the 31st of December, 1872.
