General Notes: Husband - Charles A. Bentley

He obtained his educational training in the common schools of Monongahela City, Pennsylvania, and early in life learned the carpenter's trade, at which he worked several years. In 1881 he began working on the Pennsylvania Railroad, first as brakeman, and beginning in 1890 was a conductor, serving in that capacity on the Ellsworth branch. He was also interested in the coal and lumber business in his city, and with the exception of a few years spent in Pittsburgh, was always a resident of Monongahela City.
Mr. Bentley was a Republican in politics, served two terms in the city Council, and was elected to the State Legislature in 1907, being re-elected in 1909. He was fraternally a member of the O. R. C. of Pittsburgh; the B. P. O. E. of Homestead, and the Masonic order of Charleroi.
