General Notes: Husband - Harrison Elmer Bell
He was educated in the public schools of Clarion County, PA, and early became associated with his father in the lumber business. In 1896 he formed a partnership alliance with his brother, Charles W. Bell, to engage in the lumber business under the firm name of Bell Brothers. In 1899 this concern purchased a tract of twenty-six hundred acres of land in Elk County, and lumbered hemlock and pine. The firm operated one mill and employed a force of twenty-five men all the year round. For a number of years a general store was run in connection with the lumber business. In 1910 Mr. Bell was one of the organizers of the Conewango Trust Company, which was capitalized with a stock of one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars. Mr. Bell was a member of the board of directors. In August, 1912, the Bell home was established in Clarion in a beautiful cream-colored brick residence, surrounded with gardens and lawns, on the corner of Main street and Eighth avenue. In his political convictions he was a stalwart Republican, and he served in a number of township offices, such as supervisor, treasurer, etc. Fraternally he was affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias and the Modern Woodmen of America.
