General Notes: Husband - Nicholas Beck

He and his wife were both born in Germany, and in early life came to America, where they were married. Locating in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, he engaged in farming and such labor as he could find to do until 1845, when he moved to Clearfield County. He purchased one hundred acres of heavily-timbered land, and in clearing the land burned much of the lumber in order to get rid of it. Seventy-five acres of his farm he placed under the plow, and improved with good and substantial buildings.
He and his wife were consistent members of the Lutheran Church.
