He was educated in the Crawford County (Pennsylvania) and Union City schools, and in 1886 he entered the Jefferson Medical College, graduating in the class of '89. In 1890 he took a course at the lying-in hospital, and in 1891 located at Wattsburg, where he built up an extensive practice.
