General Notes: Husband - Henry F. Beistel
Mt. Pleasant Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA - a farmer
He was reared on a farm, attended the rural schools of his township and engaged in farming which he pursued until 1862. In October of that year he was drafted and served the required nine months in Co. I, 168th reg. Pennsylvania Infantry. On March 9, 1865, he enlisted in Co. B, 101 Reg. Pa. Vols. and served until the close of the war. After 1865 he was engaged in farming. In 1880 he purchased a farm of forty-nine acres to which he later added fifty acres more. He was a republican and served as an assessor of his township. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church and member of Post No. 531, Grand Army of the Republic at Pleasant Unity.
