General Notes: Husband - Albert Young

His father came from Holland, and served in the War of 1812.

He was born in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, and at an early day went to Centre County, where he was employed in the iron works of Curtin & Co. There he married, and continued to reside until 1852, when he brought his family to Clearfield County, where he rented a farm for two years, and then purchased a tract of land, of which twelve acres had been cleared and a small house erected. Devoting his attention to agricultural pursuits, he there spent his remaining days, dying at the age of seventy-two years. Politically, he was a Democrat; in religious faith he was a consistent member of the Baptist Church.

He came to Clearfield County with his wife and six of their children, two having previously died in Centre County.
He bought fifty acres of land in Ferguson Township, the same now being owned by his son, John W., which was entirely unimproved. He cleared the land and cultivated it according to the old and systematic methods of the Dutch, among whom he had learned farming.
