General Notes: Husband - Josiah Stewart
He was a prosperous farmer and also had an extended reputation as a heavy and successful dealer in cattle, sheep and wool. Various members of the Stewart family were engaged in those lines of business for many years and were especially identified with the founding and development of the wool trade in northern Pennsylvania. In the earliest days of this business the wool dealers found their nearest market at Lancaster to reach which they were obliged to transport their produce over the mountains.
