General Notes: Husband - David N. Zahniser

He was educated in the common schools, and brought up on a farm. He kept a grocery store at Charleston, Mercer County, PA, for about eighteen months. He owned 125 acres of good land and a house and lot in Charleston. He served as assessor two terms, road commissioner two terms, and in 1887 was elected a justice of the peace by 100 majority. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. at Greenfield, a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Big Bend, and a stanch Republican. [HMC 1888, 932]
