General Notes: Husband - George Bob Wick
After completing his early schooling in Butler, Pennsylvania, he entered Washington and Jefferson College. He became interested in the study of music and spent five years in New York City in professional study and grand opera work. He spent three years with the Sauvage Grand Opera Company and then located again in Butler, where he established himself in studio and professional work. He also opened a studio in Pittsburgh and continued in this work for eight years. Mr. Wick served as baritone soloist in the Second Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh from 1917 until 1925, and for over a decade had complete charge of the teaching of music in the senior high schools of Butler. He was also a member of the faculty of Grove City College for two years.
Mr. Wick was a Republican in politics and served as Butler's mayor beginning in 1925. He held membership in the First Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Butler Country Club, and Sterling Club. He was the city's only Rotary Club charter member and was also an honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During the first World War he served in the U. S. Army for two years, in the capacity of an army song leader, and was located during most of that time in the Virginia district at Hampton Roads, Fort Monroe, the Norfolk naval base, as well as Camp Stewart and Camp Hill, at Newport News.
