General Notes: Husband - Henry Van Riper, Jr.
He was educated at Paterson, NJ; in September, 1861, he enlisted in Company G, Seventh Regiment, New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, under Capt. McKernan, serving three years in the Army of the Potomac; was wounded at Gettysburg, and was discharged in September, 1864.
He learned coppersmithing in Paterson, NJ, and beginning in 1809 was employed in the copper and tin shops of Meadville. He was a member of the K. of P. and A. O. U. W.; politically was a Republican.
