He was a soldier in the Civil war, and died while in the service at Washington, D. C., when only a young man. His father went on to see him, and President Lincoln was especially kind to Mr. Tassey; subsequently, President Cleveland granted pension, back pay, etc., to the son of Peter Tassey, Jr.
