He was graduated from Allegheny College 1898, from Drew Theological Seminary in 1901, and received the degree of Master of Arts in 1901 from Allegheny College. He was admitted to the Pittsburgh Conference M. E. church October 12, 1901, ordained deacon by Bishop J. M. Walden, and was appointed to Saltsburg, Pennsylvania.
