General Notes: Wife - Magdalena Smail

Her name is found in the baptismal records of the Forks Lutheran Church. In the court proceedings pertaining to the disposal of her father's property, her name was given as Malinda. When she received her share of the money from the selling of her father's real estate, $346.31, she was listed as "an indigent person and maintained by the township." In 1870, at the time of U. S. Census, she was living with her uncle and aunt, Simon Peter and Esther Klingensmith. Shortly after that, the Klingensmiths migrated to Missouri. What happened to her then is not known. It is known that she did not go with them.
