General Notes: Husband - Augustus Herman Behm
He received a common school education, and followed farming, owning a well improved farm of 189 acres. On his place were two oil wells, which produced at one time 180 barrels, and 150 barrels, per hour, respectively. In politics, he was a Democrat, and filled the office of township auditor. He was a member of St. John's Reformed church of Evans City, was an elder in that body, and was also connected with the I. O. O. F.
He was reared on the home place in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and during his boyhood days attended the district schools during the winter months. He had seventy acres of the old home farm, on which he always lived, and in addition purchased an adjoining tract from Markel and Goehring. He came to have 172 acres all told, and erected all the modern and substantial buildings which stood on the place. There were three oil wells in operation on the farm, and he followed general farming and stock raising. [TCHBBC, 1007]
