He was born in Liverpool, England. He was kidnapped in early boyhood, and carried to the American colonies, where he was bound out until twenty-one years of age. On arriving at mature age he came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he was married. He took a patent for a tract of land in Washington County, and made a home in what became Fallowfield township.
