80th BIRTHDAY
Rev. Sherman Beers of 116 Plummer St., a retired minister, will be honored with an open house on Friday, July 11, on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the event from 2 to 4 pm in Hasson Park. The party will be hosted by his four children and their families: Rev. and Mrs. Ronald Beers of Doylestown, Ohio; Rev. and Mrs. James Beers of Indianapolis, Ind.; Rev. and Mrs. John Beers of Norton, Ohio; and Lois Beers of Oil City. He has 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The retired minister is a native of Franklin and served with the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection for 52 years, starting as the assistant pastor to the late Rev. James Merrifield in the Oil City Mission. The Oil City resident has been retired since 1981.

REV. BEERS, WIFE MARRIED SO YEARS
Oil City--The Rev. and Mrs. Sherman J. Beers of 116 Plummer St. will be honored at an open reception Friday in observance of the 50th wedding anniversary.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the event which is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Reno Fire Hall. The couple will renew their marriage vows at 6 p.m.
The reception will be hosted by the couple's four children and their families. They are the parents of three sons, the Rev. Ronald S. Beers of Doylestown, Ohio, the Rev. James S. Beers of Indianapolis, Ind., and the Rev. John M. Beers of Norton, Ohio, and one daughter, Lois Ann Beers of Oil City.
Rev. and Mrs. Beers also have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The couple was married Dec. 5, 1932, in Franklin by the Rev. James F. Merrifield. Mrs. Beers is the former Dorothy Heckathorn of Victory Heights.
Rev. Beers is a retired minister of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection, originally the Allegheny Conference. He served the connection for almost 50 years, starting as an assistant pastor to the Rev. James Merrifield in the Oil City Mission.
He retired as pastor of the Oil City Wesleyan Methodist Church from 1940 to 1946 and from 1960 to 1969.
Rev. and Mrs. Beers retired in 1981, returning to their home at 116 Plummer St.
Rev. Beers is a native of Franklin.
