He was born near Glasgow, 1665, in reign of Charles II. On the death of his father he moved to Drumore township, County Down, twelve miles from Belfast. The lives of father and son, John and Robert Stewart, therefore embraced an important period in the history of England, commencing in the reign of Charles I, under Cromwell, Charles II, James II, William and Mary, Queen Anne, George I, and into the reign of George II.
