General Notes: Husband - John F. Wilson
He was a graduate of Jefferson College, Pennsylvania, a captain of a company in the Civil War. He was seriously wounded at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and left for dead, but, rising, he walked to his tent, being carefully nursed for three months by his brother, Samuel R. He measurably recovered, though losing an eye and having an arm permanently disabled. He was commissioned judge advocate of Old Virginia by President Lincoln. He became postmaster, under President Grant, at Lynchburg, Virginia, for eight years. He was later an attorney and engaged in other business.
