General Notes: Husband - Edwin T. Beatty
He was reared in Mercer County, PA, and attended the public schools of Sheakleyville till 1868, when he commenced clerking in Wayne, OH. In 1869-70 he attended the Normal Academy at Cannonsburg, PA, for two terms. During the winter of 1870-71 he taught school in Mercer County, came to Greenville in the latter year and engaged in clerking. For a few months in 1872, he was in the coal business. In August, 1873, he formed a partnership with W. H. Findley, and purchased the book store of Jacob Miller, of Greenville. He was a Republican in politics, and a member of the borough council. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the Masonic order, R. A. and K. of H. [HMC 1888, 775]
