General Notes: Husband - James C. Stewart

In 1865 the old Stewart homestead in Hickory Township was sold by the heirs, and James C. Stewart located on a farm near New Hamburg. Six years later he purchased a farm of thirty-eight acres in Hempfield Township. He was a Republican, and served in all the township offices. Early in life he united with the United Presbyterian Church, and was always a consistent member.
