General Notes: Husband - Adelbert M. "Deb" Beatty
On October 14, 1861, he enlisted in Company H, 4th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He was in over sixty engagements, and was wounded twice, June 22, 1863, and September 1, 1864. He was a prisoner for over four months. By the war closing, he was discharged July 1, 1865, spending three years and eight months in the service of his country. He lived on a farm on the road leading from Utica to the mouth of Oil creek, and on the east side of the Franklin and Dempseytown road.
Nov 23, 1823, Adelbert (Deb) Beatty, 80, of Dempseytown underwent amputation of his left hand at the Franklin Hospital this afternoon as the result of a hunting accident a short time before. Mr. Beatty, a veteran of the Civil War, was hunting squirrels when his gun exploded prematurely.
