General Notes: Husband - James B. Smith

He attended school in his boyhood at the Oakland school-house. His life was devoted to agricultural pursuits and he remained on the home farm. There he, at various times, made many improvements. For some years later in life he lived retired from active farm work but he still enjoyed overlooking the industries which he so successfully managed alone for so long a time.
He was a Republican from the formation of the party, and served twice as road supervisor in Pike township. He was a member of Susquehannah Grange.
