He purchased a portion of his father's 1,000 acre tract in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which belonged later to his great-grandsons, Jno. M. Slaymaker and Nathaniel E. Slaymaker, esq., the latter was for many years secretary and treasurer of the Lancaster County Mutual Insurance Company.
