He received his education in the common schools of North Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Circleville and Greensburg academies and Indiana (Pa.) State Normal school. He taught in the common schools for eight years and then attended the University of Michigan where he took the preparatory course in medicine. He then entered Jefferson Medical college of Philadelphia, from which celebrated institution he was graduated in the class of 1889. Immediately after graduation he located at Harrison City, and opened an office.
