He resided in Venango Township, Crawford County, PA, until 1845, when he located in Saegertown, built a pottery and embarked in the manufacture of earthen-ware, which he followed for eighteen years. In 1870 he purchased a farm and followed agricultural pursuits thereafter. He held various township offices. In politics he was a Democrat.
