General Notes: Husband - William A. Young
He was reared and received his education in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. At the age of eighteen years he entered the tannery of Robert Reynolds at New Castle and served an apprenticeship. In 1853 he located in Pine Grove and purchased the tannery, which was established by James Tilball, which he then operated, and in 1881 he and his son, Will V., established Grove City Tannery, and dealer in harness, etc.
He held the office of school director and was a member of the borough council. He was one of the organizers of the Grove City College, and was a trustee of the same since its inception. He and his family were members of the Presbyterian Church.
