General Notes: Husband - Christian Myers
His grandfather Myers, was the founder of the family in America, having come over from Germany, where he lived in the town of Bartenstim. He located in what is now Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he took up four hundred acres of land that by the early twentieth century were included in the site of that city.
He was born and reared in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer by occupation and removed to Somerset County.
He was born and reared in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, and was a farmer by occupation.
He afterwards settled in Somerset County and from there came to Ligonier, Westmoreland County, in his early manhood in 1814. Upon coming to what was then little more than a wilderness, he purchased three hundred and thirty-eight acres from John McHarg. He engaged in agriculture and also, in June, 1814, engaged in the mercantile business, having the first store in what is now Ligonier three years prior to the laying out of the village. This he conducted about ten years, then turned his attention to farming and nursery business, establishing the first nursery in that part of Pennsylvania, which he continued until his death, in the early eighteen-forties.
