General Notes: Husband - Samuel Van Dyke
He was of Scotch descent and became one of the earliest settlers of Marion Township, Butler county, Pennsylvania, where he acquired 300 acres of land. This was in a wild and uncultivated state at the time of his ar-rival and it was necessary for him to make a small clearing before he built a log cabin, which served as the family home for some years. He later built a stone house which was one of the best in all the sur-rounding country at that time. He had three sons and three daughters. [HBC 1909, 1465]
