General Notes: Husband - Harvey J. Shupe
He was born and reared in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he was educated in the schools of the township, from which he passed to Lebanon Valley College. For two years he was clerk in a shoe store in Pittsburgh, and then went to Kansas, where he spent eight years. He then visited Oklahoma and Texas, and was engaged in cattle raising in Kansas. Returning home, he took a position as traveling salesman for a Pittsburgh establishment. During the winter of 1905 he engaged in the importation of fine draft and coach horses, with headquarters at Mount Pleasant. In this enterprise he was associated with the firm of Keiser Brothers, of Keota, Iowa. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., and the B. P. O. E.
