He was a graduate of the State Normal School of Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania, and also of the Poughkeepsie, New York, Business College. He became a prominent attorney of Lock Haven. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Lock Haven and Superintendent of the Great Island Presbyterian Sunday-school.
