General Notes: Husband - Myron Beatty

He suffered from heart trouble during the years that his family was growing up so much so that his wife was forced to take in boarders while he was still living to help with the family income. He was taken by death suddenly at age 53 when his youngest child Harry was ten years of age. Mae Morris, Harry's daughter, recalled her father's account that Myron had gone upstairs with him to see that he was tucked in bed. He did not return downstairs and when they checked they found him lying across his bed dead from a heart attack.

General Notes: Wife - Sarah Best

Franklin News Herald, Franklin, PA
November 30, 1917
One of Rocky Grove's finest and best-known women was called by death at 2:30 o'clock this morning following an accident suffered on October 30. The intervening time was spent in terrible agony.
Mrs. Sarah Beatty, familiarly known as "Grandma," received a fracture of the hip on October 30 when she tripped on a rug in the parlor of the home of her grandson, C. E. Wertman, with whom she had resided for the past 25 years. She was given the very best of treatment by Dr. Charles H. Brown, assisted by Drs. L. E. McBride and J. M. Wallace, up until the time of her death, although she had been in an unconscious condition for several days.
Mrs. Beatty was born near Attica, Allegheny County, N. Y., January 19, 1833, the daughter of Charles and Mary Best. When 11 years of age, she was brought to Pennsylvania and resided near Cooperstown until 1855. In 1854 she was married to Myron Beatty, son of John and Polly Beatty, who resided near Cooperstown. Following the death of Mr. Beatty on March 6, 1887, Mrs. Beatty conducted a boarding house in Hill City, Kossuth, Ten Mile Bottom, and other oil towns of this district until 1892 when her daughter, Ella Alice, who was married to H. F. Wertman, died. After the death of Mrs. Wertman, Mrs. Beatty made her home with the Wertman's up until the time of her death, first at Galloway and later in Rocky Grove.
The deceased was a kind-hearted, generous, and faithful woman, being a staunch supporter of the Methodist Episcopal Church, working steadily for it as long as she was able, and being always ready to help her neighbors. She was noted as a nurse and was always the first one called in to minister to the sick.
Of the original 11 children in the family, only seven survive. They are: Mrs. J. W. Myers of Cooperstown; Mrs. J. F. Weaver, of Clarion; Mrs. O. F. Crispen, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Mrs. W. J. Mead of Fremont, O.; and H. D. Beatty of Salem, W. Va. A brother and a sister survive but their exact whereabouts are unknown. Besides the seven children, 36 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild survive.
Funeral services will be held from the home of C. E. Wertman, on Parker Ave. at 2
o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. M. E. Borger assisted by Rev. Mr. Pearson.
Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

What was considered by many as one of the most beautiful services yet held in Rocky Grove was conducted by Rev. Mr. Borger, assisted by Rev. Mr. Pearson for the late Mrs. Sarah Beatty at 2 o'clock Sunday at the home of her grandson, C. E. Wertman, with whom the deceased had resided for many years.
Rev. T. W. Pearson read the scripture lesson and also offered an inspiring prayer. The scripture lesson was chosen from Psalms XVI because that special part of Mrs. Beatty's Bible was very much marked indicating her liking for it. Rev. M. Borger took the last verse from this Psalm, also, for his theme.
The choir of the Grace United Evangelical Church rendered three beautiful numbers --"Higher Ground" and"Beulah Land" which were great favorites of Mrs. Beatty's and "Going Home to Rest."
Interment followed in the Franklin cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers:
James Rodgers, A. V. Fitzgerald, and H. D. Carter, old Galloway neighbors, and R. A. Gourley, C. M. Ferringer, and L. H. Peffer, Rocky Grove neighbors.
The large number of floral pieces mutely testified to the great love which her many friends and neighbors bore her. Some of the contributions were from bodies such as Rocky Grove Teachers, Evangelical Sunday school, etc.
A great many friends and relatives were present- - - -
