General Notes: Husband - Mathew Shields
He followed the occupation of farming for some years in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He purchased a portion of the old Captain Jack farm, on which he resided until 1871, when he removed to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, in order that his children might have better educational advantages. He removed to Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in 1877, where he lived a retired life.
