After completing his schooling at Barkeyville, Venango County, Pennsylvania, he became interested in the mercantile business at that place with his father. He remained there until about 1918, when he located at Eau Claire, Butler County, and established an extensive business. Mr. Beatty carried a complete line of dry goods, clothing, shoes, and furniture, and also was the local dealer for the Ford and Chrysler automobiles. His complete stock of merchandise was valued at more than $100,000.
He was a stanch Republican and held membership in the Methodist Church.
