General Notes: Husband - Rev. Daniel Baumgardner
He was educated in the common schools of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and in college. In 1863 he enlisted in Company A, 97th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He served in the Union ranks until about the close of the war, when he was discharged on account of disability. He saw active service in the vicinity of Richmond, Virginia. In 1869, at Morgan, West Virginia, he entered the Evangelical Lutheran ministry. For thirty-one years he was engaged actively in preaching the gospel in different cities in Pennsylvania, and beginning about 1890 he was a resident of Hawthorne. He was a man of broad mind and innate kindliness of spirit, ever doing all in his power to assist down-trodden humanity. He retired from the ministry about 1901.
