General Notes: Husband - Col. William Y. Roberts
He was a native of Luzerne township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where he was reared to manhood and died. He was at one time a member of the Pennsylvania state legislature, and moved to Kansas, being a participant in the stirring events that gained for that state the title of "Bleeding Kansas." He recruited a regiment from that state and commanded it throughout the Civil War.
