General Notes: Husband - Dr. George Selden

He graduated from Yale College in the class of 1786, with the degree of Master of Arts, after which he studied medicine, probably with his brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph Spencer. After completing his medical studies he started west, and while descending the Ohio river was captured by Indians. They made him a captive and took him beyond the Mississippi river, where he remained in captivity for a considerable time. He finally escaped to New Orleans, and from thence returned to Connecticut. Later, with his brothers-in-law, Dr. Spencer and Colonel Lord, he located at Vienna, Virginia, where he remained until his removal to Millersburg, Kentucky, in 1803, and where he later died. He was in successful practice during this period, enjoyed a high reputation for his professional skill, and numbered the family of Henry Clay among his patrons and admirers.

General Notes: Wife - Olive West

She was a descendant of Francis West, of Duxbury, Massachusetts; who died January 2, 1694.
